Were you raised on hip-hop? So were they. Where were you when JFK was assassinated? Don't know? Neither do The Dyslexics - but they sure as hell know where they were when the release of Nas' "Illmatic" changed the world as they knew it forever.
While most kids their age were listening to Metallica and playing Dungeons & Dragons, The Dyslexics stood outside their windows laughing at them while listening to Luther Campbell Throw the D through their headphones. Did you date hot chicks when you were young? Neither did The Dyslexics! The similarities continue...
Did your family, friends and teachers tell you that rap was a passing fad and that you were wasting time listening to it? The Dyslexics graduated magna cum LOUD while listening to that passing fad for the past 15 years.
Were your moral and ethical outlooks shaped and perfected by the likes of N.W.A., Arabian Prince and King Tee? You are not alone. Did you use to sit up at night wishing you were from Compton or practicing your gang signs in the mirror? Neither did The Dyslexics.
But what The Dyslexics do know is this: they went to high school, they had friends, they had enemies, they had girlfriends, they had ex-girlfriends. They went to college, they dropped out, they graduated, they had friends, they had enemies. And now they wanna talk about it all.
So if you ever looked at the centerfold of Rap Pages and thought to yourself, "How does Eazy E get his hair to look so juicy?" then The Dyslexics might just be for you. Hip Hop. America. Suburbia. Urbia. Ambahlance Music at its best.
